Introduction

Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and the largest city in the country. It is situated on the Judean mountains (800m/2624ft) between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea. On the eastern side the city borders the Judean desert.

From ancient times until our days Jerusalem has been the heart of the Jewish nation. It is a religious centre of importance for Jews, Christians and Moslems alike. Jerusalem combines ancient, old and new and its population is composed of a fascinating mixture of Jews and Arabs, religious and seculars. Each one of these groups lives according to its own lifestyle and in its own cultural atmosphere. Because of its symbolic importance to different nations and religions, Jerusalem has been over the years a city of conflict. Even though it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times, Jerusalem's thousand year old history shines in all its glory.

Jerusalem is a city with many fascinating tales, each one dating to a different period in history. You can tour through archaeological and religious sites dating back more than 2000 years. You can learn about the first developments outside the OldCity walls, dating back to no more than 200 years and you can visit the New City where most of the state institutes, the university and museums have been established.

You will have the opportunity to visit places such as: The Western Wall, Mount of Olives, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the Israel museum, the Room of the Last Supper, the Temple Mount, Yad Vashem, the City of David, Gethsemane, markets, the Biblical zoo and more.
